Before this, the northernmost place I have been to in China is Kanas, Xinjiang. After this, my northernmost refresh to Moerdaoga, and the vertical distance from the northernmost point of China is only more than 200 kilometers. In the early autumn of 2022, we flew over about 2,500 kilometers from Shanghai via Beijing and came to the best grassland in the world Hulun Buir grassland

Different from the self-driving routes in New Zealand and Xinjiang a few years ago, the self-driving route in Inner Mongolia is almost 100% covered by highways, and there are no dangerous mountain roads. It is the most relaxing and comfortable self-driving route I have ever experienced.

🍁 Autumn in the grassland 🍁
After starting from Hailar, you will soon be able to see the grassland. When you first arrive in the grassland, everything is very fresh, even a cow working in the grassland.
Soon we were convinced by the magic of nature. The prairie in early autumn was like an oil painting. The sky is high, and the clouds are clear, the grass is green and yellow, and the herdsmen fold the autumn grass into rolls to prepare enough forage for the cattle and sheep.
Rolled haystacks like this are all over almost every meadow and have become the favorite check-in point for tourists.
Of course, there is also the almighty "prairie jump picture".
There is an invincible "top spot" on the winding Mozhgrad River - the top of Muyun Mountain. This is a private hillside. Although the tickets are not cheap (¥468/$66 per person), with unlimited beef and mutton hot pot and excellent scenery, it is barely acceptable.
There is an iron sheep on the top of the mountain looking out at the Moriggrad River. I like it very much. There is an inexplicable sense of loneliness.
The photo below is from Erguna Wetland. I saw many similar photos on the Internet. At first, I thought it was from PhotoShop. When I arrived at this place in person, I discovered that such scenery could be photographed with a mobile phone!

🐫 Little creature 🐫
In autumn, Inner Mongolia is already a little desolate, and most of the little creatures are hiding. Along the way, except for a little fox that I didn't have time to capture, a few highly vigilant hares, and a few "prairie camels", they were all herds of domesticated cattle and sheep.
The day I saw the most animals were in the "Deerbuer Xingan Shen Deer Park". Although the animals here are raised, they also satisfy the curiosity of our children from the city.
You can see some well-made wooden figures on the farm, adding extra fun.
Most of the goats, reindeer and sika deer here are docile. After feeding them, they don't mind that you stay so close to them and pose for a few photos.
There is also a little donkey whose face is really longer than mine (In China, we use the long face of an old donkey to describe embarrassing things) ????
On the last day of the "Huhe Nuoer Grassland", we actually saw camels! This breaks my ingrained notion of camel and desert combo.
The camels here are very tall and somewhat aloof. Whenever I want to reach out and touch them, they stop chewing and stare at me. So that in the end I had to take a picture from a distance and give up.

🚂 The forest 🚂
There is an isolated national forest park in the Daxing'anling area - Mordaoga National Forest Park, which is currently the largest forest park in China, with a forest coverage rate of about 93.3%.
Here, you can take the Internet celebrity train into the depths of the virgin forest, or you can buy a ticket and drive in by yourself. Since we had seen all the beautiful forest scenery along the way, we decided to take a small train to visit the park. The small train stopped at four stops on the way, and it took about 1 hour.
Slowly travel through this ancient forest and feel the quietness of the years.
Every station the little train arrives at will give a peculiar feeling that is hard to describe in words. In addition to virgin forests, remnants of various human civilizations can be seen from time to time.
Where the small train passes, you can also see the remains of the tents of the Ewenki people, although they no longer live there today. However, traveling among these ruins, time seems to return to the days of the dome tent.

From Shiwei Port, our car has been driving along the borderline. It is only separated by a river from Russia. While enjoying the beauty of the other side, maybe the people on the other side are also looking at us.
Shiwei Town is already a little exotic.
The other side is Russia.
Along the border, you can drive all the way to the Ergun River Wulan Mountain Scenic Spot, where you can take extraordinary pictures only with your mobile phone.

This is one of my favorite poems, and also, Heishantou has become one of my favorite places on this trip because of this coziness. Here we are a real shepherd - feeding horses, herding sheep, milking cows, and galloping karts
